Yolo County Children’s Alliance Hosts Annual Back-to-School Resource Fair in West Sacramento

July 24, 2024 | Category: Press Release

Davis, CA –  Yolo County Children’s Alliance (YCCA) is thrilled to announce their annual Back-to-School Resource Fair! Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 27th at Riverbank Elementary School in West Sacramento. This free community event goes beyond backpacks – it’s about empowering children for academic success and a confident start to the new school year.

Why Starting Strong Matters:

Studies show that arriving at school with essential supplies and feeling prepared can significantly impact a child’s learning experience. YCCA’s Back-to-School Resource Fair addresses this critical need by providing backpacks filled with school supplies, along with:

  • Kid-Friendly Activities: Fun games and activities to keep children entertained and engaged.
  • Community Resource Tables: Connect with local organizations offering vital services for families, such as healthcare, after-school programs, and food assistance.

Executive Director Jeneba Lahai emphasizes the event’s importance:

“While providing backpacks and school supplies is crucial, our Back-to-School Resource Fair is about sparking something even more valuable,” says Jeneba Lahai, Executive Director of YCCA. “It’s about creating networks of friendships and community connections that extend far beyond the classroom. As families interact with each other and local organizations, they’re weaving a tapestry of support that strengthens our entire community. These social bonds formed at the fair can lead to lasting relationships, mutual support, and a sense of belonging. By fostering these connections, we’re not just preparing children for the school year; we’re building a more resilient, interconnected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
