November 18, 2024 | Category: Community Impact

West Sacramento, CA – Yolo County Children’s Alliance (YCCA) is proud to announce the 19th Annual Community Giveaway Day, an event aimed at supporting local families in need during the holiday season. The event will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Riverbank Elementary School in West Sacramento, and promises to bring warmth, joy, and essential resources to the community.

Every year, the Community Giveaway Day stands as a testament to YCCA’s commitment to fostering a nurturing and resilient environment for children and families in Yolo County. This year’s event will provide an array of support and holiday cheer, featuring:

  • Kids’ Coats & Blankets: Ensuring that children stay warm during the colder months with new coats and blankets (while supplies last).
  • Holiday Meal Kits: Complete holiday meal kits, including a turkey and all the traditional sides, provided by the Yolo Food Bank.
  • Community Resource Tables: Families can connect with local organizations that provide vital services, including health education, reading programs, financial assistance, and more. Participating partners include United Way California Capital Region, Health Education Council, St. Joseph Charities, and many others.

“Our Annual Community Giveaway Day is more than just an event; it is an expression of love and solidarity with the families we serve,” said Jeneba Lahai, Executive Director of Yolo County Children’s Alliance. “The joy of seeing children receive warm coats and families being equipped for a holiday meal is an important reminder of why we do what we do. This event embodies our mission of ensuring every child and family in Yolo County feels seen, valued, and supported.”

Attendees are encouraged to come early, as supplies for coats and meal kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The event will be accompanied by local partners offering information and resources that can positively impact families throughout the year.

YCCA invites community members and partners to help spread the word about this heartwarming event. Flyers are available in English, Spanish, Russian, and Dari, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all families.
